Wickham Street, Arncliffe: 10-storey building, 24 units planned

Plans for a 10-storey apartment building worth $11 million have been revealed, after they were submitted to Bayside Council.

Loucas Architects has proposed to create the residential building at 6 and 8A Wickham Street, which will include 24 units, three levels of basement parking, landscaping and communal open space.

The site is located close to Arncliffe Railway Station and provides public transport access for future residents.

The planner said the site was situated in the Arncliffe Precinct, which was undergoing a transition due to the redevelopment of numerous sites into high density buildings.

“Twenty-four residential apartments will consist of 23 two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment,” the planner said.

“The proposal will contribute to housing supply in the zone.

“The adjoining road network is capable of accommodating the limited traffic projected to be generated.”

The planner said the development would provide high quality, generously sized apartments all of which had access to private balconies and a communal area of open space at the rear of the site on ground level.

The planners believe the proposal provides a building consistent and compatible with the desired future character of the Arncliffe Precinct and more specifically, the Cahill Park Neighbourhood sub precinct.

“The proposed development is deemed to satisfy social demand … due to the precinct’s proximity to transport, local employment, schools, restaurants and retail amenity,” the developer said.
“It will have no unreasonable or adverse amenity impacts on adjoining development, the environment, traffic network, public domain or other external features or services.”

The plans are on public exhibition until September 14 through Bayside Council’s website.
