TV host Melissa Doyle steps out with look-alike daughter

Veteran television journalist Melissa Doyle is enjoying a new phase of life as a mum of two- with now-adult daughter Talia a spitting image of her. See the photos here.
With both her children now adults, TV host Melissa Doyle is relishing the next phase of motherhood.
Doyle’s eldest, Nick, is 21, while daughter Talia is 18 and in her first year of university, studying design and visual communications.
“It is just very different from when they were little and you’d go to the park and play with Play-Doh and paint and make a mess,” the former Sunrise host told The Daily Telegraph.
“That was fantastic but in a different way. So I feel really appreciative and grateful. This just feels like the next phase of our relationship.”
Doyle, 52, reflected on motherhood as she and Talia attended a Mother’s Day morning tea for jewellery brand Fairfax & Roberts at its CBD store ahead of the annual celebration on May 8.
It was a rare public appearance for the private Doyle, who has for the most part kept her children out of the spotlight through their childhood.
She earlier said she hoped by being a working mum and integrating her kids into her work life, she had paved the way for other women in the television industry.
“I have loved every single stage (of motherhood) but for different reasons,” Doyle said.
“Talia is my best friend. I feel so lucky. We were just walking down the street, teetering along in our high heels laughing and saying how fun it is, how much we enjoy each other’s company.”
Doyle said the pair were “cooking up” a holiday together for later in the year.
“I just feel so appreciative of having such an extraordinary young woman in my life who happens to be my daughter,” she said.
“She teaches me a lot. She opens my eyes to a lot of things happening in the world that matter to her.
“There’s so many interests in her life that aren’t things that I’ve known anything about, so I’m really enjoying that.
“Hopefully it works both ways.”
Doyle this week meanwhile was announced as the new host of the revamped This Is Your Life.
The show will premiere on Channel 7 later this year.
“I’m really excited, it feels like such an honour,” she said. “It is such an iconic program.”
