Raymond Bayssari arrested on drug charges in Fairfield

The father of an Alameddine crime clan associate has been charged with supplying drugs across Sydney in recent months.
Raymond Bayssari was arrested at his Fairfield home about 7am on Tuesday by Criminal Groups Squad officers working as part of Strike Force Newnham, who took him into custody over his alleged involvement in the drug supply ring. NSW Police have since charged the 54-year-old with three counts of supplying a prohibited drug more than a commercial quantity, supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and supplying more than indictable amount of prohibited drugs. The Daily Telegraph is not suggesting the Bayssari was in anyway linked to the Alameddine clan.
At the same time officers were at Bayssari’s Fairfield address a search warrant was also being carried out in Wentworthville.
Across both sites police located and seized eight litres of what is believed to gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), as well as methylamphetamine, cash, and electronic devices. Police will specifically allege Bayssari supplied 66g of meth and five litres of GBL across April and July this year. Bayssari’s arrest comes seven months after his son John Ray Bayssari, 31, handed himself in to police. The Alameddine associate was among four men allegedly linked to the infamous crime clan to go on the run in December last year. While he and two others handed themselves in, one of his alleged associates Masood Zakaria fled overseas. John Ray Bayssari remains before the courts on separate drug possession charges. He faced Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday where he was refused bail to reappear on Wednesday.
