Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrives in Australia with partner Judy Haydon after Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in Westminster

Anthony Albanese’s hurried trip to the UK is over, with the Prime Minister arriving in Australia on Wednesday morning after attending Her Majesty’s funeral in London at the start of the week.
Anthony Albanese is back home after representing Australia at Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral at Westminster Abbey in London.
The Prime Minister flew to the United Kingdom with nine specially chosen “Australians” to attend the historic mass.
Mr. Albanese met King Charles III a short time later, and later held talks with British Prime Minister Liz Truss and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Albanese was photographed disembarking from an RAF aircraft with his partner, Judy Haydon, ahead of Australia’s National Day of Mourning.
Albanese urges Australians to observe a minute’s silence for the Queen after calling for a public holiday.
The Queen was mourned at 11 am on Thursday before the national memorial service to be held in the Great Hall of Parliament in Canberra.
The Prime Minister will attend along with Governor General David Hurley and other state and territory officials.
Albanese said the memorial will be an opportunity for Australians to pay their respects to the longest reigning monarch.
He said: “As we pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen, all Australians have observed a moment of silence, to reflect on her remarkable life of dedication and service with one minute of silence.”
“Her Majesty had a deep affection for Australia and has been fondly remembered by Australians ever since. The Queen lived her life in an air of dignity and grace that will be remembered for centuries to come.”
Parliament resumed on Friday to offer condolences after a two-week hiatus following the Queen’s death.
The prime minister is then scheduled to travel to Japan on Monday, accompanied by former Prime Minister John Howard, Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull, to attend the state funeral of former Japanese leader Shinzo Abe.
