Laura Wallace identified as Canberra e-scooter crash victim

Canberra has recorded its first e-scooter road fatality after a 19-year-old woman was struck by a car while crossing the road.
Laura Wallace has been identified as the 12th person to die on Canberra’s roads in 2022, after she passed away on Monday.
At 3.10pm on Sunday police and emergency services were called to the scene of the collision at the corner of Drakeford Drive and O’Halloran Circuit in the suburb of Kambah, in the Tuggeranong region of Canberra.
A statement from ACT Policing stated Ms Wallace was not wearing a helmet and had been thrown a long distance across the intersection following the crash.
Following the crash Ms Wallace was transported to The Canberra Hospital with serious head and leg injuries, and was pronounced dead the following day
ACT Policing Officer in charge of road policing, Detective Acting Inspector Paul Hutcheson, fronted the media on Monday telling reporters investigations were continuing into the tragic incident.
