Cecil Patrick Kennedy to face trial over 2005 death of Singleton toddler Jordan Thompson

A man charged with the 2005 manslaughter of Singleton toddler Jordan Thompson has been committed to stand trial.
Cecil Patrick Kennedy, 50, was arrested by Strike Force Kyeama detectives last year following a reinvestigation into the death of the 21-month-old toddler more than 17 years ago.
He briefly appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday where he was committed to stand trial over the death of the 21-month-old toddler.
Police will allege Jordan died after being poisoned with antidepressant medication.
Kennedy was the boyfriend of Ms Swales when Jordan was found dead on a bed inside her Singleton unit on March 19, 2005.
Ms Swales, who has given The Newcastle News permission to identify Jordan, had been out running errands when she returned to find her son unresponsive.
She rushed him across the road to Singleton Base Hospital but Jordan could not be revived.
Ms Swales attended two coronial inquests investigating the death of her son and joined homicide squad detectives in 2015 to announce a $100,000 reward for information leading to a conviction over Jordan’s death.
The investigation culminated in Kennedy’s arrest at Blacktown last September.
He remains on bail and will appear in Newcastle District Court on May 19 for a trial date to be set.
