SUICIDE WISH Jordanian MP says her dead mum’s ‘only unfulfilled desire was to blow herself up among the Jews’

AN MP in Jordan said her dead mum’s last wish was to “don an explosives belt and blow herself up among the Jews”.

Huda Etoom made the revelation in parliament on Tuesday in an impassioned speech since branded “outrageous” on Twitter.

It comes as Britain prepares to send military trainers to Jordan fight against ISIS.

The outspoken politician, who represents Jerash in north-west Jordan , said: “My late mother was over 80 years old.

“She did not leave a single stone unturned when it came to obeying Allah.

“She implemented every single tradition of the Prophet of Allah.

“A single desire was left in her soul: to don an explosives belt and blow herself up among the Zionist Jews.

“This is an example of our sentiment—the sentiment of all free people: we shall continue to feel remiss unless we are martyred on the land of Palestine, which is our number-one cause, our all consuming concern, and the right we redeem with every single drop of blood.

“Therefore, concern for the holy places and the details of the Palestinian cause are a priority on which we must not compromise.

“May Allah allow the glory and greatness of this country to continue for all eternity. May Palestine be forever a free Arab country, from the river to the sea, and may Allah allow Jordan to overcome all the catastrophes.”

Antisemitism in the Arab world

The Arab-Israeli conflict, resentment over Jewish nationalism and European influences have led to the rise of antisemitism in the Arab world in the past 20 years.

And research published in 2014 showed 74 per cent of people in the Middle East believed “Jews are responsible for most of the world’s wars”.

It means today Jordan does not allow entry to Jews with visible signs of Judaism or even with personal religious items in their possession.

Authorities in the nation say this is to ensure Jews are safe.

History of conflicts in Jordan

The Arab-Israeli conflict has crippled Jordan since the Arab-Israeli War in 1948.

Israel’s ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and repeated invasions of the Gaza strip have triggered a fierce backlash against Israeli policies across the world – largely except the US.

And the Jewish population in modern day Jordan has declined since the Roman era.

Militant groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have claimed responsibility for most of the 170 bombings executed by Arabs in Israel since 1993.

More than 700 people have been murdered in the attacks, including children, the elderly and pregnant mums.
