In a rare interview in Pyongyang a North Korean Official said Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s remarks are “absurd and illogical.”

Trump recently suggested during an interview that the U.S. military should withdraw from key allies South Korea and Japan and instead arm themselves with nuclear weapons.

“North Korea has nukes. Japan has a problem with that. They have a big problem with that. Maybe they would in fact be better off if they defend themselves from North Korea.”

Fox News’ Chris Wallace asked to confirm if Trump meant that Japan should defend themselves with nuclear weapons.

“Including with nukes, yes. Including with nukes.” Trump said.

“Donald Trump’s remarks are totally absurd and illogical,” said deputy-director general of the Institute of International Studies in Pyongyang, Ri Jong Ryul.

“The U.S. tells us to give up our nuclear program, is preparing a nuclear attack against us, and on the other had would tell its allies to have nuclear weapons. Isn’t this [a] double standard?”
