A barn filled with 2,000 tons of straw is on fire in Lebanon and fire officials believe it could burn for days.
Meanwhile, authorities say the cause of the fire is suspicious and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
The fire erupted at 12:31 a.m. today in a barn near Highway 20 and Bohlken Drive. The barn was engulfed and is considered a total loss, with a preliminary damage estimate of $250,000.
Because of the amount of hay inside the barn and the lack of a reliable water supply, as well as the damage already done to the barn, firefighters are letting it burn itself out.
Fire crews plan to stand by in upcoming days to minimize flare-ups.
The barn is owned by Marion Knox.
