Eric Abetz: Gay men don’t really want to marry

It’s reported that he said because Dolce and Gabbana didn’t ever marry, other homosexual males don’t want to get married. Are you serious?!

There are bizarre claims that Federal Senator Eric Abetz said that gay men don’t want to get married, using the example of Italian fashion designer couple Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana who never made it official, reports Sydney Morning Herald.

Apparently this whacko announcement was made in a six-hour coalition partyroom meeting about same-sex marriage.

Errr, that’s like saying Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes aren’t married, so heterosexual couples don’t want to get married.

That’s like saying Emma Stone is obsessed with the Spice Girls so all actresses are obsessed with the Spice Girls.

That’s like saying Karlie Kloss likes pizza so all of Taylor Swift’s squad likes pizza.

Ok, you get it. Our point is… THIS CONCEPT IS SO RIDICULOUS.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has come out and called Abetz a “clown” and Abetz has since denied he ever said it.

But wait, it gets worse. This comes at the same time that Prime Minister Tony Abbott has warned his ministerial colleagues that they will have to resign from the frontbench if they vote in support of same-sex marriage, reports Illawarra Mercury.

Abbott said that it’s “the standard position of our party that if a frontbencher cannot support the party’s policy, that person has to leave the frontbench”.

Abbott reckons people who voted for him would be disappointed if he went against his former views and legalised same-sex marriage. He’d prefer it go to a referendum.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten criticised this route. “I don’t understand for the life of me what Mr Abbott has against marriage equality. We shouldn’t have to wait for a referendum, which by the way will cost tens of millions of dollars,” he told Channel Seven. “I think Mr Abbott just needs to move with the times.”
