Burr Ridge Doctors Return From Mission Trip In Jordan

BURR RIDGE, IL — Two Burr Ridge doctors and members of the Syrian American Council have returned from Jordan after a week-long mission. According to the council, Dr. Talal Sunbulli, founder of the council, and co-founder Dr. Zaher Sahloul, were able to help the mission provide support to the Syrian people in Jordan and at the Jordanian border.

The Syrian American Council is an organization that advocates for a free and democratic Syria. According to the council, the mission was able to advocate for the sick and also successful advocated for medical attention for the Internally Displaced Persons, including many children suffering from severe dehydration.

The mission team also purchased food and hygiene items from a local market which were then delivered to a medical tent in the free zone at the border. The council said they also visited recently wounded people and heard their stories, and visited refugee camps where Syrian refugees currently live.

The council was also able to organize a festival for orphaned Syrian children, which included food, music, toys for each child, face paint, confetti, and featured a concert by mission chair, Dylan Connor.

The Syrian American Council partnered with UOSSM: Union of Medical Care and Relief Organization, who got the team access to the free zone, refugee camps and hospitals, while on the ground in Jordan.
