Two men armed with guns held up a 7-Eleven store on Stacey Street, Bankstown, about 1:30am.
“Early investigations suggest two men, one armed with a shotgun, the other with a pistol, entered the store wearing hoodies and dark clothing,” a NSW Police statement said.
One of the men shot at the front counter as the pair walked into the shop, police said. The bullet missed the cashier and ripped through a chocolate stand.
“He asked me to come to the register and to give them the money and so I did,” the cashier said.
“I asked them, don’t shoot again, I’ll give you the money.”
The pair fled the premises after obtaining a small amount of cash.
The employee was not hurt, and a crime scene has now been established while specialist police examine the area.
