A man has died and two other people have been injured after up to eight shots were fired in a shopping centre car park beside Bankstown Court in Sydney’s west.

Police were called to a car park at the Bankstown Central shopping centre, on Rickard Road, about 11.50am today Friday and found two men and a woman suffering gunshot wounds.

One of the men died at the scene as police reported.

No arrests have been made and it is believed the gunman is still on the run.

The injured man and woman are believed to have suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, and are being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

The centre has been placed into lockdown as emergency services and police remain on the scene, with motorists and pedestrians urged to avoid the area.
