New vaccination clinic for Canterbury-Bankstown

Community members including the priority group of 16-to-39 year olds can receive their free Pfizer vaccination at a new clinic opening in Bankstown tomorrow (Thursday 19 August).

The clinic at Bankstown PCYC at 55-57 Meredith St will open seven days a week from 8.30am to 6pm and futher expand South Western Sydney Local Health District’s vaccination program in the region.

Priority appointments are available for 16-to-39 year olds living in a local government area of concern including the City of Canterbury-Bankstown.

Free parking is available in the nearby Canterbury-Bankstown Council multi-storey car park at 22 Meredith St, Bankstown.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital specialist and UNSW Associate Professor Ahmad Alrubaie said numbers of COVID-19 cases in the area remained high and he urged young people to book their appointment.

“Vaccination is the best protection for our community and helps to keep our loved ones and families safe from COVID-19,’’ Associate Professor Albrubaie said.

“COVID-19 vaccination is effective, safe and free.

“Vaccination has been shown to reduce the severity of the symptoms and the likelihood of needing hospital care. It could save your life.’’

The clinic has been set up to include private areas for women to receive their vaccination.

District Chief Executive Amanda Larkin said the clinic was the latest to open as part of the vaccination rollout in south western Sydney.

“Our District is proud to be delivering our share of the additional 530,000 doses provided to NSW by the Commonwealth Government for the 16-to-39 years age group,’’ Ms Larkin said.

South Western Sydney Vaccination Centre at Macquarie Fields, Liverpool Vaccination Clinic and the Prairiewood Vaccination Clinic are also offering Pzifer vaccinations.
